NH Sleepaway Camp with the Best Tennis Program
Tennis has always been a big part of Camp Walt Whitman, as my great uncle Chick and his wife Ann loved to play. But it became a truly impressive program when Dave Porter, the all-time winningest coach in NCAA history, arrived 22 years ago (check out his ridiculously impressive resume).
Dave originally came to teach because he wanted his three children to experience Camp Walt Whitman. He brought his entire family that year, thinking it would just be a one-summer gig. But of course, he and the kids fell in love with camp and now he even has grandchildren at CWW.
Today, Dave serves as our Tennis Director and oversees a tennis program that includes 11 clay courts and 12 tennis professionals. While all campers have tennis on their schedule twice a week as part of our regular program, as well as tennis ladders to compete in, any camper who wants to receive additional private and semi-private instruction another two times per week should consider taking advantage of the intensive program led by Dave Porter.
Those campers who want to participate in intensive tennis will receive their additional two hours a week of private and semi-private instruction from Dave and his staff at times that don’t interfere with their regular schedule. Campers finishing 2nd-5th grade will have their instruction at rest hour, while campers finishing 6th-9th grade will participate before breakfast.
If you are interested in having your child participate in Intensive Tennis, please download the form from your Forms Dashboard and mail it to our NY office with a check made out directly to Dave Porter. The cost for our full season campers is $400 for 12 sessions, and the cost for July campers is $200 for 6 sessions.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
