Athletics
Whether your child is a star soccer player or has never set foot on a basketball court, our regularly scheduled athletics expose every camper to a range of sports taught by our expert coaching staff.
From baseball and basketball to hockey and lacrosse, softball and gymnastics to flag football and soccer, your child will learn the fundamentals of multiple sports from current and former collegiate athletes. Having sports professionals on staff who can pass on the passion for their sport and who emphasize building proficiency while having fun helps campers learn to appreciate the thrill of the game, no matter their skill level.
Our most advanced athletes can choose in-depth athletic clinics during their elective time and for their weeklong specialty classes. Intercamp sports competitions against nearby camps provide ample opportunities for challenge and competition in a fun, friendly environment.
An Entire Pro Staff Devoted to Tennis
Tennis is a lifetime sport, and Camp Walt Whitman’s comprehensive tennis instruction makes it easy for every camper to learn to play or improve their game. Whitney Kraft, former Director of Tennis at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, oversees a staff of 11 college tennis pros who offer all of our campers excellent, regularly scheduled instruction for all levels on our 11 tennis courts.
Under Whitney’s guidance, exciting in-camp ladder play and tournaments complement a very active intercamp competition schedule.
Passionate junior players can choose tennis for both their daily elective and their weeklong specialty. If advancement in tennis is a priority, campers may also choose to participate in our Intensive Tennis Program, which provides them with two additional private lessons each week.
