Swim Instructor
Overview
Swimming is a vital component of CWW’s day. Whether in the crystal waters of Lake Armington or in our heated pool, our campers have the opportunity to swim daily. Our instructors teach swim lessons throughout the day that conform with American Red Cross standards, including levels I through VII, and during free swim periods, instructors lifeguard. You will also have the opportunity to create specialty classes such as synchronized swimming, snorkeling and water games. Daily upkeep of the pool and waterfront area is another responsibility of instructors.
In exchange, the perks of the job include being able to spend your days outside in a “beautiful natural workspace,” says longtime swim instructor Marty Reeder, while “staying in great physical shape and being around fun and engaging personalities who will potentially become friends for life.”
You’ll also receive excellent lifeguarding and emergency training as well as leadership opportunities in implementing those skills, says Reeder. “Swim instruction develops a skill that is often in demand outside of camp life and could lead to future jobs as private swim tutors.”
Your efforts will be rewarded quickly, too. “Swimming provides clear benchmarks for improvement and campers invariably improve throughout the summer, which can be very satisfying to be a part of,” says Reeder.
