Boating / Sailing Instructor

Overview

What better way to spend an afternoon in New Hampshire than to take a canoe or sailboat out on Lake Armington? Our campers have this opportunity, and as a boating instructor, this is how you will spend your days: teaching campers the basic boating skills of canoes, kayaks, funyaks, sailboats, paddle boards and windsurfers. Lessons will cover everything from rigging the boats for use, necessary skills for piloting the vessels and, of course, safety. Along with teaching exciting and creative classes, our boating instructors maintain the boats and docks.

Spending your days on the waterfront is just one perk of being a boating instructor. You’ll also be able to enjoy using a variety of recreational boats all summer long on your time off.

“As someone who loves sailing but can’t work out how to afford/store/transport/maintain one, camp provides me the perfect option of sailing all summer without having to worry about those things,” says boating instructor Marty Reeder.

Some of his favorite memories teaching boating at Camp Walt Whitman also include evenings he and waterfront staff took the pontoon boat out to enjoy dinner.
