Chocolate Chip Scones

Makes 16

2 cups flour 
2 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Add the egg and 1/2 cup of milk. Stir. If necessary, add more milk to form a soft dough. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Turn dough unto a floured board and knead about 15 times. Cut the dough in half and shape into balls. Flatten the balls into circles about 1/2 inch thick. Cut each circle into 8 pie shaped wedges. Or, separate dough into 16 equal parts. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten.

Bake on ungreased baking sheets until golden - about 12 minutes.
