Cheese Drops

Yields 5 dozen

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 sticks butter, softened
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated, room temperature
1 cup chopped pecans, optional
2 teaspoons caraway seeds

Sift together flour, cayenne pepper, and salt. Cream butter and cheese in a large bowl. Add flour mixture. By hand, fold in pecans and caraway seeds. Drop by half teaspoons onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes.
