Our Location

Walt Whitman is located in the beautiful state of New Hampshire, just a few miles from the Vermont border, and within easy driving distance of Maine.

In addition to near-perfect summer weather (low humidity, warm days and cool nights), it's surroundings play an important role in making Camp Walt Whitman what it is.

The hiking and camping program takes full advantage of the natural beauty that surrounds and encompasses our campground.



Travelling to Camp

US Airways Express, operated by regional airline Colgan Air, makes daily roundtrips from New York's LaGuardia Airport.
 
Bus
TO: White River Junction, Vermont
FROM: New York: 9:15 a.m. (preferred time), $66 - $49 (7 day advance)
Depart from New York Port Authority, 41st St. and 8th Ave.
Use Greyhound Ticket Counter for Vermont Transit.

TO: Plymouth, New Hampshire (Plymouth is most convenient pick-up point to camp)

Use Concord Trailways ticket counter (1/800-639-3317)
 
TO: Plymouth, New Hampshire
FROM: Logan Airport, Boston: 10:00 a.m.(Fri & Sun only), 3:15 p.m. Fare: $24.00
Pick up Concord Trailways Bus in front of any of the airline terminal buildings. Call camp immediately with your arrival time.
 
TO: White River Junction, Vermont
FROM: Boston: 1:15 p.m., 2:30 p.m. (preferred times), 6:00 p.m. (if no other choice) Fare: $27.00

Use Vermont Transit ticket counter (1/800-451-3292)
 

Driving Directions

From New York/Connecticut:
  • Connecticut Turnpike to I-91 and exit at Bradford, Vermont.
  • Right at STOP (bottom of exit ramp) and proceed straight on Route 25 across the Connecticut River to blinker light intersecting with Routes 10 and 25-C.
  • Stay straight on 25-C approximately 9 miles to camp sign.
From Boston:
  • Take I-93 North.
  • Exit at Plymouth, New Hampshire.
  • Take Route 25 (West) to Warren.
  • At Warren take 25-C (left fork) approximately 5 miles to the camp sign.
