Food & Nutrition

At Camp Walt Whitman we want to make sure our campers enjoy plenty of nutritious AND tasty food! Our menu is designed each summer in consultation with Foodwize, a leader in the field of pediatric nutrition. Our goal is to create a menu that is kid-friendly and tastes great!

We provide multiple menu options at every meal, allowing campers to always find something they want to eat.

In addition, we are Nut Aware. Working with our onsite Allergy Specialist, we can successfully meet the needs of campers with most food allergies.

Breakfast

We serve the following items at every breakfast

  • Choice of four cold cereals
  • Oatmeal
  • Bananas and a rotation of fresh blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries
  • Yogurt
  • Bagels
  • Eggs
  • Orange Juice
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Milk (skim and 2%)


Our main breakfast course varies daily but may include

  • Pancakes (plain and chocolate chip)
  • French toast
  • Belgian waffles
  • Omelettes
  • Scrambled eggs
  • Breakfast burritos
  • Eggs McWhitmans
  • Croissants, muffins, Danishes and scones
  • Cinnamon buns
  • Egg frittata

Lunch

We serve the following items at every lunch

  • Salad bar with 16 items
  • Pasta salad
  • Sandwich bar (tuna, roast beef, turkey, salami, ham, cheese, etc.)
  • Daily grill, including one of the following: hamburgers, hot dogs, turkey burgers, chicken breasts and veggie burgers
  • Hand fruit, including apples, pears, plums, grapes and peaches


Our main lunch entree varies daily but may include

  • Tacos
  • Pizza
  • Bread bowls
  • Ravioli
  • Chicken fingers
  • Grilled cheese with tomato soup
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Quesadillas
  • Philly cheese steak subs
  • Meatball sandwiches
  • Tomato and mozzarella panini
  • Reubens
  • Sandwich wraps

Dinner

We serve the following items at every dinner

  • Salad bar
  • Pasta option
  • Fruit bowl
  • Fresh baked dessert


Our main dinner entree varies daily but may include

  • Lasagna
  • Chicken nuggets
  • BBQ chicken
  • Sesame chicken
  • Baked ziti
  • Thanksgiving dinner
  • Chicken stir fry
  • Spaghetti and meatballs
  • Chicken parmigiana
  • Burritos
  • Salmon
  • Babyback ribs
  • Lemon piccata chicken

In addition to the meals above, we provide plenty of healthy snacks throughout the day.
